A Beijing native, Jiaqi (Maria) Ma graduated cum laude from Wesleyan University with a B.A. in Classics and Studio Art in 2017. She taught 6th through 10th grade Latin and elective studio art at an independent school before pursuing an M.A. in Classics at the University of Notre Dame. She also serves as a teaching and research assistant, and volunteers at one of Paideia’s Aequora outreach sites. Her current research interests include funerary epigrams and literature that sheds light on the perceptions of death. In her free time, Maria enjoys drawing, playing musical instruments, and learning constructed languages in literature.
