Annika Currell

Biography

Annika Currell graduated summa cum laude from Wheaton College (IL) in 2025 with a major in Classical Languages, where she studied both Latin and Greek. She minored in Bible and Theology and also completed a certificate in Latin for Classical Christian Education. Her honors thesis evaluated C. S. Lewis's use of foreignization as a technique in his translation of the Aeneid. She also studied at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford through the program Scholarship and Christianity in Oxford. There she completed a research project on the reception of Virgil's Fourth Eclogue by early Christian authors, studied Seneca's Medea, and studied Latin historical linguistics. Her study of Seneca introduced her to paleography and textual criticism, areas she hopes to explore further during graduate school. Building on her study of the Medea in Oxford, Annika's capstone research project at Wheaton compared attitudes toward marriage and children in Seneca's Medea and the Aeneid. When she’s not reading Latin or Greek, she can be found learning French. After completing her master's degree, Annika plans to teach Latin at the middle or high school level.
