Jason Murray

Biography

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Jason earned his BA at Duke University in Classical Languages, focusing on both Latin and Greek, and Philosophy, with a minor in Political Science, from Duke University. His undergraduate research ranged widely from an examination of St. Maximus the Confessor's Mystagogia, a comparison of St. Augustine's doctrine of exemplarism with Maximus's theology of the logoi, a study of how natural law emerged in medieval thought, an inquiry into divine and human voluntarism in Duns Scotus, to an analysis of Aquinas's reception in Eastern Orthodox theology. He also co-led Transformative Ideas, a program fostering open, cross-disciplinary dialogue on life's biggest questions.

At Notre Dame, Jason plans to extend these interests to analyze the theological, ecclesiastical, educational, and political threads that bound East and West together across the Late Antique and the early medieval periods.

When he isn't in the classroom or the library, you'll likely find him at the bench press or bent over a strategy game, wishing there were a way to do both at once.
