Nia Correal

Nia graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2024 with a B.A. in Anthropology and minor in Classics. Since then, she has completed a Classics post-baccalaureate certificate program at the University of California, Davis. Her research on Vergil’s Aeneid, Horace’s Satires and Apuleius’s Metamorphoses, have laid the foundation for her interests in Classical reception, where she aims to study the influence of Roman texts on 14th-19th fairy tales. She intends to focus on the portrayals of marginalized people, while exploring the diversity of monstrosity, and identifying the historical influences of textual oppression on contemporary literature and hegemonic norms. Outside of her academic interests, she enjoys practicing yoga, reading, journaling and spending time with her cat.
