Biography
Sophie King graduated magna cum laude from Hillsdale College in 2025 with a B.A. in Classics and English, where she was editor-in-chief of the campus student literary publication, The Tower Light. She was introduced to classical reception studies and comparative literature through the process of writing research papers on Ovid in Chaucer, Dante, and Jean Toomer’s Cane. As a student of the Classics, she desires to make classical literature more manifest and accessible as a present, active facet of the literary canon. To this end, her work involves literary criticism, translation, and allusion within her own poetry. She is especially interested in researching experiential and religious aspects of Greek Tragedy, as well as Ovid’s depiction of agency, particularly feminine agency in the context of suffering.
