Biography

Professor Kim joined the Classics department at Notre Dame after earning her PhD in Classical Philology from Yale University in 2024, her MPhil in Classics from Trinity College, Cambridge University in 2018, and her AB in Classics from Princeton University in 2017. Kim’s research focuses on Ancient Greek and Akkadian poetry and poetics. Her first monograph, currently in progress, studies dreams and similes in Gilgamesh and the Homeric epics using the theoretical frameworks of narratology and cognitive studies, particularly discourse analysis. Kim’s interest in cognitive studies spans beyond her book project on epic to articles on tragedy and Aristotle’s Poetics. In addition, Kim publishes on classical reception, with a particular focus on Asian American poets.
