"Recovering Aeschylus' Aenaean Women"

Macrobius' Saturnalia preserves the four surviving trimeters from Aeschylus' Aenaean Women, but his Latin summary of the myth is incompatible in a number of respects with the Greek text that he quotes. Dr. Sampson's paper aims to recover the Aeschylean myth, as well as to analyze the Latin scholarly tradition underlying Macrobius' distorted take on the play.
