Notre Dame Winter Certamen Invitational

-

Location: Jordan Hall of Science

The Classics Club of Notre Dame invites students from Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin high schools to compete in its annual winter certamen tournament.  Teams will consist of any four high school students and may choose to enroll in one of three divisions—novice, intermediate, and upper—determined by the amount of Latin the students have taken.  For each division there will be three preliminary rounds followed by a finals round, the victors of which will receive awards and recognition at a closing awards ceremony.

In addition to Certamen itself, the tournament extends the opportunity for Classics enthusiasts to experience everything that the Notre Dame Classics Department and the University as a whole have to offer.  Students will be offered the chance to hear the perspectives of current Classics majors and ask questions about their studies and experiences at Notre Dame, as well as take a tour of campus.  One of the department’s professors will also be offering a lecture for interested students and teachers.
