Classics Club's High School Certamen Event

-

Location: Duncan Student Center

The Classics Club invites high schools from across the Midwest to come to campus and compete in its annual Certamen event. The tournament will take place on March 3, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m at Duncan Student Center.  Teams will consist of any four high school students and may choose to enroll in one of three divisions—novice, intermediate, and upper—determined by the amount of Latin the students have taken.  For each division there will be three preliminary rounds followed by a finals round, the victors of which will receive awards and recognition at a closing awards ceremony.

In addition to Certamen itself, the tournament extends the opportunity for Classics enthusiasts to experience everything that the Notre Dame Classics Department and the University as a whole have to offer.  Students will be offered the chance to hear the perspectives of current Classics majors and ask questions about their studies and experiences at Notre Dame, as well as take a tour of campus.  One of the department’s professors will also be offering a lecture for interested students and teachers.
