Teaching and Service

Each semester, our students contribute to the department service in different ways:

  • Teaching a beginning or intermediate Latin or Greek course

  • Teaching the Friday discussion section of ancient literature or ancient history undergraduate courses

  • Serving as teaching assistants of undergraduate courses by grading exams and meeting with students outside of class

  • Serving as research assistants for Classics professors

"My time in Notre Dame’s MA in Classics was an immensely formative experience that I am deeply grateful for. Taking rigorous and illuminating courses under the guidance of excellent scholars sharpened my facility in Greek and Latin and deepened my understanding of Classical literature and the ancient world. I greatly enjoyed teaching several introductory Latin and Greek courses, and grew significantly in my research skills through the process of writing my MA thesis. I would highly recommend this program to anyone gearing up for Ph.D. studies in Classics."
