Jack Oster graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2019 with a BA in Economics and a minor in History. After working as a research assistant for a professor at Harvard Business School, he began to attend classes on Greek, Latin, and Late Antiquity at the University of Minnesota in 2020. In the spring of 2021 he completed a Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) project comparing the writing of two Byzantine historians titled “(Re-)Interpreting the Past in Byzantium.” He is interested in Late Antiquity, Byzantium and its relationship with its Greco-Roman origins, and economic history. After completing his Master’s degree, he would like to continue his studies and ideally conduct research at a university level.
