Juanita graduated cum laude in 2018 with a BA in Classical Languages and minor in Ancient Cultural Studies at Stellenbosch University (South Africa). In 2019, she received the SU Rector's Award for excellent academic achievement and completed a BA Honors in Classical Languages (cum laude). During this year she completed a short dissertation on the Stoic moral development in Virgil's Aeneid. She also had the opportunity to work with the university's disability unit and braille centre by lecturing Greek to a visually impaired student. Alongside Professor Annamaré Kotzé, she has been actively involved as a Latin teacher in the Stellenbosch Latin Project Initiative, an outreach project to high school students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. In 2020 she also started lecturing Ancient Greek on the first and second levels. Juanita's research interests include Greek and Latin poetry (esp. epic and tragedy) and ancient philosophy (Stoicism in particular). In her leisure time, she enjoys hiking, camping, kloofing, and curling up with a good book and a cup of hot cacao on a wintery day.
