Courses

The M.A. in Classics curriculum includes a combination of core courses and electives.

Core Courses

• Two survey language courses in Language 1 (Greek or Latin)

• Either Survey of Greek Literature I and Greek Literature Seminar,

• Or Survey of Latin Literature I and Survey of Latin Literature II (or Latin Literature Seminar)

• Two Advanced Language courses in Language 2 (Greek or Latin)

• One Greek and/or Roman History Seminar

Electives

Students select five electives from the following areas:

• Intermediate Greek or Latin

• Advanced Latin or Greek Language and Literature

• Greek or Roman History

• Classical Archaeology and Material Culture

• Philosophy

• Other courses approved by the director of graduate studies
