“Studying ancient Greek and Roman civilizations has opened up a lot of doors for me and I think that it’s also made me a lot more well-rounded,” said Jenna Eilinger ’14, a Greek and Roman civilization major in Notre Dame’s College of Arts and Letters.

The Greek and Roman civilization major allows students to examine the culture of the ancient Mediterranean world. It differs from the Classics major in that there is no language requirement, instead focusing on the literature, history, archaeology, art, religion, and philosophy of ancient Greece and Rome. The program aims to reveal connections and differences between civilizations of the past and our modern world.

“I came to Notre Dame to be challenged and I can say that I truly and thoroughly was.” Eilinger said.
