"Studying Classics, like traveling abroad, lends new perspective to the way you view your native culture. As a classics major at Notre Dame, I’ve had the privilege of participating in both of those enlightening endeavors. From unearthing Roman ruins that have laid untouched for millennia, to reciting my personal translations of Horace’s Odes, I have consistently grown to view the modern world with a humbler perspective, realizing the great chain of accomplishment, and that we stand on the shoulders of giants."
