Area(s) of Interest: Ancient Jewish apocalypticism; Augustine; Jewish exegesis during the Second Temple period; kinship in antiquity; the New Testament and its early reception

Originally from Scotch Plains, NJ, James received his BA from Wheaton College and MDiv from Western Theological Seminary. After seminary, he served in a pastoral position for a year in Holland, MI. James is interested in early Jewish and Christian exegesis, and his research thus far has focused primarily on scriptural citations and allusions in the Gospel of John. At Notre Dame, James looks forward to learning more about the reception of biblical texts in antiquity. When he’s not studying early Judaism and Christianity, James can be found running, reading modern theology, or drinking a good cup of coffee.
