Susan Francino graduated summa cum laude from Hillsdale College with a B.A. in Latin in 2015. Her undergraduate honors thesis consisted of a commentary and critical apparatus for the portion of Saxo Grammaticus’ Gesta Danorum that is a precursor to Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Following her undergraduate degree, she taught middle and high school Latin online for five years while pursuing her interest in creative writing. She received an MFA in Poetry from Seattle Pacific University in 2021. Her poetry inspired by Prudentius’ Psychomachia has been published in The American Journal of Poetry, and others of her poems are forthcoming in St. Katherine Review. She also has frequently served as a church singer and choir director, and enjoys learning Byzantine and Znameny chant.
